ATTRACTIONS IN THE AREA

Warren County and the surrounding counties in middle Tennessee have attractions and activities for all ages and interests.  Below are examples of the variety offered and then links are provided at the bottom of this page that will lead you to the Main street McMinnville, Warren County Chamber of Commerce, the Upper Cumberland Tourism Association, and the Tennessee Tourism site for further help with your trip planning.    The staff at the Lively Museum will also be happy to assist you.

Some of the most popular pastimes while visiting this area are:

Hiking is a popular pastime in our luscious forest, trails and parks.  Three of the most popular parks with beautiful trails are:

Rock Island State Park (only 20 minutes)

Savage Gulf National Preserve (30 minutes)

All of these parks have campgrounds, hiking trails, beautiful swimming areas in the creeks and waterfalls.  Fall Creek Falls and Rock Island also have accommodations.  Fall Creek Falls has a restaurant and swimming pool in the park.  A different hike that is exciting is to visit the second largest cave in the U.S., CUMBERLAND CAVERNS, only 20 minutes from McMinnville.  A guide will take you on a commercial tour in the cool 57 degree cave, where you will visit some of the most beautiful formations.

SHOPPING:  ANTIQUE STORES,  ART GALLERIES, Specialty ShopS that you might want to visit while you are downtown in our Historic District visiting the museum.

MAGNESS LIBRARY:  The Magness Library is located on the corner of North Chancery and West Main Street in the McMinnville downtown historic district.  The magnificent building which is on the History Register of Historic Places was renovated in 2006 and is worth a tour.  The telephone number is 931 473-2428.

    WARREN COUNTY CHAMBER OF COMMERCE is located on the square in downtown McMinnville and is located in a newly renovated building.  Stop by and pick up some literature or ask the friendly staff for directions.  The telephone number is 931 473-6611.  The Main Street McMinnville office is located in the lower level of this building and can help you with information about McMinnville's Main Street Program.

DINING can become a memorable part of your day downtown while you are visiting the museum.  

New York Grill is a sports restaurant that prepares high quality food and provides entertainment for the whole family.  There are pool tables and a game room suitable for all ages.  There are private dining rooms for meetings and parties.  Open 5:00 pm each evening, come and bring your whole family for fun and great food.  call 931 507-4745 (GRIL) for information and reservations for private parties and meetings.  Located at 216 East Main Street in downtown McMinnville, it is easy to find and easy to park.  A large parking lot is available in the back by the Farmers Market and Water Tower with a convenient back entrance or main street parking is available, as well.  

Capalano's Coffee Cafe' Emporium  is a memorable place serving specialty coffee and tea beverages, fresh soups, salads, sandwiches, domestic, imported and micro brewery beer, bakery items, snacks and munchies.  Located in a restored historic building at 117 East Main Street in historical downtown McMinnville, lunch, dinner or simply a cup of gourmet coffee will be a treat.  Capalano's is open Monday through Thursday from 8 am to 8 pm and Friday and Saturday 8 am to 2 pm.  Watch for the live entertainment and check out the web site at www.capalanos.com or call 931 507-2233.  

Main Street Bakery is a great place to visit for a home cooked breakfast and lunch in downtown McMinnville, next door to Magness Library at 112 West Main Street.  Save room for their home made desserts and donuts.  Main Street Bakery will also make your cake for parties.  Call 931 474-2253 to find out what the lunch special will be for the day.  

CITY CAFE, is located in the original site of City Drug Store on the corner of East Main street and Spring Street in downtown McMinnville at 201 E. Main Street.   A great place to visit for a home cooked breakfast and lunch in downtown McMinnville.  Open now at night for a fantastic dinner.      Junior & Penny Medley and son  have many years experience in the restaurant business and McMinnville is lucky to have the City Cafe as a part of the historic experience.  We are also lucky to have the Medley's living in their restored building downtown .  Call 931 507-3663 to find out specials will be for the day.  

HOTELS, MOTELS, BED & BREAKFASTS & CAMPING ARE PLENTIFUL IN THE AREA:
